🌸 5 FREE Shawl Patterns to Prepare for Springtime

Spring is just around the corner.

Which means it's almost time to shift from knitting those warm winter items so something more...

Elegant.

While I'm personally not a big shawl (or lace) knitter, I know that they are extremely popular amongst hand knitters.

So this week I've created a round up of some of my favorite, FREE shawl patterns.

Our favorite FREE shawl projects for springtime

These projects are ones I either found personally interesting or were VERY popular already.

But just because something is popular doesn't mean you've heard about it before.

So here are a few FREE shawls you might enjoy knitting up.

Reyna
by Noora Backlund

This pattern was specifically designed to help use up a single skein of sock yarn. It has no gauge and can easily be modified for different yardage amounts.

It also has 15,000+ projects on Ravelry!

Diffusion Shawl
by Tetiana Otruta

This asymmetrical shawl plays with both color and texture. It does all kinds of interesting things as it's knit sideways using garter stitch and simple lace.

Stormy Sky Shawl
by Ksenia Naidyon

Another asymmetrical shawl meant to use up a skein of fingering weight yarn. This time knit from the corner using an easy to memorize lace pattern.

Half + Half Triangles Wrap
by Whitney Van Nes

It's not often that you find a square shaped shawl, but this simple design from Purl Soho combines color blocking and garter stitch to great effect.

Wild Swan
by Anne-Lise Maigaard
& Nim Teasdale

Honestly I have no clue why this shawl pattern is available for free. It's complex lace patterns could easily be charged for. But lucky for you it's available to everyone to enjoy!

BONUS PICK!

Traveling Woman
by L Abinante

When I got started knitting it seemed everyone was making this shawl. It's quick to knit and has a lot of symbolism from the designer. And that lace section looks incredible!

Conclusion

So what do you think?

What's your favorite shawl pattern?

Have you knit any of these projects already?

If you love simple stitches with lots of texture this one is for you.

This stitch has a row of just K2Tog, followed by a row of KFB, which create a knot like texture across.

Deal of the Day

Sentro Circular Knitting Machine (20% Off)

I don't know from experience, but I've heard knitting machines can be addictive.

As great as hand knitting can be, being able to pump out a big section of stockinette in a matter of minutes is pretty darn cool.

This machine isn't for everyone, but for the right person, it will save a TON of time.
