🍿 5 Marvelous Movie and TV Knitting Books
If you know anything about me you know that I LOVE movies.
Like, I go to the movies almost every week and one of my favorite events here in Tallinn is the Black Nights Film Festival.
So with the summer movie season about to kick off, I thought I'd highlight some books that celebrate Hollywood.
This could also be called the Tanis does Hollywood list, as Tanis Gray has become the go to person for IP related pattern books.
Let's see if you favorite characters are represented!
Knit your way across J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth, from the Shire’s idyllic countryside to the Elfin palaces of Rivendell, with this first-ever Lord of the Rings knitting guide. With patterns to suit your every otherworldly mood, this book includes cozy knits to languish by the fire in at Bag End, rustic outerwear to enjoy a beer and a warm bowl of stew at The Prancing Pony Inn, and elegant laces suited for the lush, peaceful valley of Rivendell.
Inspired by the characters of Jack Skellington, Sally, Dr. Finkelstein, Zero, Oogie Boogie, the Mayor, Sandy Claws, and more, these patterns feature a mix of dark and vibrant knits and glow-in-the-dark yarn in celebration of the melding of Halloween and Christmas in this classic film. Oogie Boogie and Zero stuffies come to life with the help of your knitting needles, and clothing, home décor, holiday decorations, and more will transport you to the moonlit hills, dark cemeteries, and eerie cobblestone streets of Tim Burton’s stop-motion world.
Bring the power of the Force to your needles with the first official Star Wars knitting pattern book. Featuring 28 knits pictured in gorgeous full-color photography, Star Wars: Knitting the Galaxy includes patterns for toys, apparel, and home decor inspired by your favorite movie moments, characters (both human and alien), droids, ships, and more. Projects range from simple patterns like the Ewok Hood (sized for both children and adults!) to more complex projects like the Darth Vader Pullover.
Feel the magic of Outlander at your fingertips with this officially licensed book of knitting: twenty patterns inspired by the hit series from STARZ and Sony Pictures Television, based on Diana Gabaldon's bestselling novels. Knit the capelet cowl that Mrs. Fitz gives to Claire at Castle Leoch, warm your feet with Clan Mackenzie Boot Socks, swaddle your bairn with the Mo Chridhe Baby Blanket, and dress your Jamie in a warm waistcoat. From chunky knits to Celtic cables, each project includes a clearly written pattern, gorgeous photography, and scenes from the set.
Channel the magic of the Harry Potter films from the screen to your needles with the ultimate knitter’s guide to the Wizarding World. Featuring over 25 magical knits pictured in gorgeous full-color photography. With yarn suggestions based on the true colors used in the films, projects range from simple patterns like the Hogwarts house scarves to more complex projects like Mrs. Weasley’s Christmas sweaters. This book is sure to have fans everywhere summoning needles, conjuring yarn, and practicing their best knitting wizardry.
Featuring 28 beautiful knits pictured in gorgeous full-color photography, Knitting with Disney includes patterns for toys, apparel, and decor pulled straight from and inspired by favorite Disney movies. Take a trip to Neverland with an adorable amigurumi Tinker Bell. Celebrate the circle of life with a vibrant sweater based on The Lion King. Or make an authentic Disney costume replica of one of the Seven Dwarfs’ caps or Kuzco’s poncho.
