“You don’t have to say everything to be a light.
Sometimes a fire built on a hill will bring interested people to your campfire.”

⛺️ 5 patterns to knit around the campfire
As we talked about Jaanipäev yesterday, which revolves around a giant bonfire, I started investigating patterns inspired by the campfire.
Sitting outside at night, singing songs or roasting marshmallows, the campfire is a staple of summertime.
Not only is it a great time to connect with friends and family, you'll probably need an extra layer to keep you warm.
Here are a few of our favorite patterns...
Yukon Campfire Hat by Treeline Knits
Why we love it: Plaid is not something you see in handknits very often. This simple hat uses intarsia to create it's unique color effect.
The Campfire Blanket Scarf by Alexandra Tavel
Why we love it: Part blanket, part scarf, totally cozy. This simple wrap embraces the raw joy of being in nature.
Campfire Cowl by Jamie Lomax
Why we love it: The lovely stranded colorwork motifs evoke a flickering fire, with crackling embers flying about.
Campfire Stories Mitts by Kalurah Hudson
Why we love it: There's a lot going on in these mitts, from ribbing to cables to bobbles and more. These are sure to keep your hands toasty by the fire.
Campfire by Megan Gonzalez
Why we love it: With it's rugged texture and shawl collar, this sweater is perfect for the woodsman in your life.

Slanting Openwork Stitch
If you want a simple stitch to work on while singing campfire songs, this is a pretty easy one.
As you can see in our featured pattern pick, simply switching the order of the stitch repeat will change the direction of this slant.
And it's only two rows!

Pattern Pick
Hanten Cowl by Johnny Vasquez
This cowl was an experiment in using a VERY simple stitch pattern to create something that looks complex.
By alternating between two types of slanting openwork stitches, this cowl gives the illusion of horizontal chevrons.
It's a great project to practice your lace knitting, and a nice lightweight cowl too.
PLUS, you can save $2 on this pattern when you purchase before Sunday at Midnight (Pacific)!
