πŸ“’ What our community wants from the Colorwork Knitting Weekend

Today is the first day of our Colorwork Knitting Weekend event.

And I have asked each one of the 4,000+ people who registered so far to share what they hope to get out of the event.

There are definitely some common themes, like:

  • How to manage floats in stranded colorwork
  • Getting better at advanced techniques like brioche and intarsia
  • Learning how to make gauge swatches using colorwork
  • Improving tension when knitting fair isle
  • Gaining confidence in attempting to knit colorwork

But I thought I'd highlight some of the community responses we've received over the past couple weeks.

We'll be covering most if not all of these topics over the course of the next 3 days!

Let's dive in...

β€œ
I want to learn about everything I don’t know…how color work works with different types of yarn…and everything elseβ€¦πŸ€£
β€” Barb Steere

Today we'll be focusing A LOT on how to use different kinds of yarn when knitting colorwork.

We'll also dive into the 10 levels of colorwork, and what makes on technique more challenging than another.

β€œ
Tension. Which is dominant yarn? And how to keep them from twisting.
β€” Anita Burns

Tension is a BIG topic and we'll be spending most of the day on Friday talking about how to improve it.

PLUS we'll also talk about yarn dominance and management.

β€œ
More information about creating charts for colorwork.

Especially for yoke sweaters.
β€” Shawnie Wallace

Designing charts can be a big topic, but we are going to touch on it during Day 2 of the event.

We'll help you decode how to read colorwork charts, and discuss some tools for making your own simple charts.

β€œ
I’d like more information about how to manage, or catch my floats.
β€” Patricia Brown

Another topic we'll cover on Friday is different strategies for managing your floats.

There are quite a few ways to approach this and we'll compare and contrast all of them.

β€œ
How to translate an other needlework charts to work for knitting.
β€” Nichole Carruth

That is a great topic, and something we'll talk about during our Decoding Colorwork Charts session on Day 2.

It's easier than you might think!

β€œ
I would love to learn how to do intarsia. It is one technique that I find very intimidating. I also find doing colour work with three colours impossible.
β€” Evangeline Lortie

These are some of the most difficult types of colorwork.

But on Day 3 I'm going to show you why the are easier than you might think!

Conclusion

There were hundreds of responses and this was just a small sample of the comments we've received.

If any of these sound like you, then I encourage you to sign up for our FREE Colorwork Knitting Weekend.

We start at 11:45 am Eastern, but you'll also get 48 hours to watch every session!

I hope to see you there!
