βI like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow;
but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.β

Knitspiration
πΈ Do you follow these 9 inspiring Instagram accounts?
There are few things more inspiring than seeing what other people are knitting.
And what better place to do that than Instagram?
We're still working on our social media strategy at The Yarnist, but we will start posting ourselves soon.
In the meantime here are nine accounts we think are worth a follow.
βBirch Groveβ
Kristina runs a lovely little hand dyed yarn company out of Ontario, Canada.
Not only is her feed filled with yarn pπ§Άrn, but her bags and branding are absolutely gorgeous.
β
βKnit Collageβ
I've known Amy since her very first TNNA tradeshow over 10 years ago.
She's grown her funky little yarn company into something truly unique in the industry.
Not only does it have a great story, but their bold, chunky designs are a pleasure to find in your feed.
β
βKnit.Love.Wool.β
If beautiful stranded colorwork sweaters are your jam then you need to check out designer Jenn Steingass.
Her yoke patterns are unlike anything I've seen, with designs and colors palettes so good you might break a needle out of jealousy.
β
βFifty Four Ten Studioβ
Mary Lee has done with classic stitch patterns what I should have done a long time ago; turn them into cozy blanket patterns.
Seriously, looking at her feed makes me feel like an idiot. π€¦π½ββοΈ
I might need to go to look through our Knits & Purls stitchionary and cast on something...
β
βAmirisu Knit Magazineβ
I've had a fondness for Japanese culture ever since I was a kid. My family would host Japanese exchange students every summer.
I have yet to visit Japan, but this magazine does a great job of embodying the Japanese design philosophy.
With innovative geometric patterns and beautiful subtle color palettes, there's a lot to fall in love with here.
β
βPurl Sohoβ
What once was a little shop in Manhattan has become a powerhouse in the crafting world.
That growth is mostly due to their simple, elegant free patterns and lovely art direction.
If you're in need of some knitspiration, you'll definitely want to give them a follow.
β
βEly Tejidosβ
While researching this article I stumbled upon this account with some of the craziest sweater designs I've ever seen.
I'm not even sure you can buy the patterns from this Chilean designer, but just looking at her creations makes me want to go bolder with my own work!
β
βHeidi FrΓΈshaugβ
If Scandinavian style mittens are more your speed then you'll want to check out this designer from Norway.
She pairs traditional nordic motifs with modern color palettes to create amazing mitten and sock patterns.
Now all I need is a fire and a hot cup of GlΓΈgg.
β
βKroopa Knitsβ
Karolina is a knitwear designer out of Warsaw, Poland. What I love about her feed is she does a great job of documenting the process of knitting.
Her pictures are absolutely perfect. Even if she's in the middle of designing a sock you never feel like you're looking at something unfinished.
β
βBrioche & Stitchβ
These adorable little dogs are owned by Stephen West.
I'm not an animal lover but even I follow these cute pups and their fantastic sweaters.

Daily Stitch
Flag Stitch
What happens when you make rectangles that are half reverse stockinette and half regular stockinette?
A pretty interesting optical illusion where the fabric looks like a row of weird flags.
And when you knit them on a big piece of fabric, like the blanket featured below, you get something quite stunning.

Pattern Pick
Little Moments Blanket by Fifty Four Ten Studio
This knitting pattern is easy to knit with bulky weight yarn. A six-row repeat stitch pattern creates an interesting texture and a reversible design.
This blanket design is inspired by cherished memories of little moments that make wonderful memories...reading a book to a child at bedtime, singing βHappy Birthdayβ to a loved one, baking the same cookies every year , gathering for a holiday dinner, listening to life stories of older relatives, building a snowman on a winter day, meeting friends for lunch in the park and so many more.

Knits & Giggles
Vanishing Fleece: Adventures in American Wool by Clara Parkes
In pursuit of the perfect yarn, Parkes describes a brush with the dangers of opening a bale (they can explode), and her adventures from Maine to Wisconsin (βthe most knitterly stateβ) and back again; along the way, she presents a behind-the-scenes look at the spinners, scourers, genius inventors, and crazy-complex mill machines that populate the yarn-making industry. By the end of the book, youβll be ready to set aside the backyard chickens and add a flock of sheep instead. Simply put, no other book exists that explores American culture through the lens of wool.
