πΊ Why you should watch these 5 Knitting YouTube channels
You may know that The Yarnist started out as a YouTube channel called New Stitch A Day.
Our focus was on building a video knitting stitch library, using stitch patterns from various stitch dictionary books and other online resources.
Currently we're working on a whole new direction for our YouTube channel, so until we have new videos for your viewing pleasure, here are 5 channels we think are worth a subscribe.
Staci over at Very Pink Knits has been doing this for a LOOONG time. Two years before we did, and she's been dishing out knitting tips left and right for more than 40 years. Her videos have a chill, 1950's vibe with some of the highest production value we've seen on YouTube. She focuses on knitting techniques and pattern tutorials, but she also does frequent giveaways for her audience.
Norman at Nimble Needles has been building a library of useful knitting content on YouTube for only a few years, but his videos have made a big impact. Based in Austria, he uses his 30+ years of knitting knowledge to make advanced knitting concepts simple. He focuses on practical knitting tips that anyone can use, regardless of their skill level.
Maryna at 10 Rows A Day consistently puts out great knitting tutorials on YouTube. Her blue background and yellow yarn have become iconic. Being schooled in Russian (Eastern) style knitting, she has a unique perspective from many other knitting channels. And she uses big yarn and needles so you can easily see what she's doing.
Stephen West is one of the most interesting and innovative knitwear designers today. He's also got a pretty great YouTube channel where he breaks down some of his designs, gives tutorials, and even hosts knit-a-longs. With a delightful personality and plenty of bright colors you can't help but smile when watching.
Kika is a talented photographer living in Finland who transitioned her channel to focus on knitwear design. While it sometimes feels a bit like a vlog, she has mastered the art of making you feel nice and cozy while watching her videos. Recently she went viral when she knit her own wedding dress, but all of her videos are worth bingeing.
Suzanne is one of the most technically proficient knitters we've found on YouTube. She hasn't posted in a while, but her channel is filled with VERY specific advanced knitting techniques that are not for the faint of heart. Her videos aren't fancy, but they are incredibly useful if you want to tackle more challenging knitting projects.
This portable steamer is perfect for blocking your finished knits without wrestling them onto a blocking board.
The 700W power creates strong steam that penetrates wool, cotton, and linen to shape sweaters, shawls, and anything else that needs gentle coaxing into the right dimensions.
The 240ml tank gives you 15 minutes of continuous steam, enough to block most projects without refilling mid-sweater.
